About the School

The School of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering at Nanjing University is a key engineering school established recently in alignment with the national strategies of "building a manufacturing power, a technology power, and advancing new industrialization," leveraging the development of the Suzhou campus. The school responds to the transformative trends in manufacturing engineering from "mechanical-driven" to "intelligence-driven" and from "experience-based design" to "deep integration of models, data, and intelligence." It aims to establish a new engineering education program that integrates "materials, structures, algorithms, and systems," serving as a crucial hub connecting scientific breakthroughs, technological inventions, and engineering implementations.

The School of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering at Nanjing University focuses on cross-scale, multi-physics, and interdisciplinary integration across four major research directions: Bioinspired and Mechanical Mechanics, Intelligent Sensing and Precision Measurement, Intelligent Manufacturing, and Extreme Manufacturing. To advance these fields, the school is developing three core research platforms—Intelligent Sensing and Precision Measurement, Digital and Intelligent Manufacturing, and Cross-Scale Metamaterial Manufacturing, creating a complete innovation chain from fundamental science, key technologies, system integration to engineering validation.

Strategically located at the Nanjing University Suzhou Campus, our “application and integration” mission drives deep collaboration with Yangtze River Delta industries in high-end equipment, intelligent sensing, MEMS manufacturing, robotics, aerospace, and industrial software. This synergy fosters a closed-loop innovation model powered by real-world scenarios and platform-supported research.

For talent cultivation, the School is establishing an undergraduate program in Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering while strategically developing master’s and doctoral programs in advanced manufacturing to create an integrated, multi-level talent cultivation structure.

Upholding our educational philosophy of "Strengthening Foundations, Pursuing Excellence, Integrating Theory with Practice, Fusing Science with Engineering, and Advancing with Determination," we nurture future manufacturing leaders equipped with global vision, systems thinking, and engineering creativity.

As a vital support for Nanjing University’s "Science + Engineering" educational model, the School of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering is committed to becoming a pioneer in New Engineering, a highland for innovation in advanced manufacturing technology, and a key engine driving national strategic missions.
